President's Message
By Michael Kinoshita, Board President
President's Message
It has been one year since we received the generous donation from the San
Diego JACL. I had asked for suggestions at that time as to how the donation
could be used and have forwarded the suggestions I have received to the
Ways & Means Committee.
The analysis and review takes time to judge the pros and cons of each of the
ideas to determine what is best for our Temple. The Board of Directors at the
December meeting voted to allocate 1/3 of the donation to upgrading our Main
Building kitchen and making it code and safety compliant. The remaining 2/3 will
go into an endowment fund to help assure the perpetuity of the Temple.
There are details to work out and we intend to present specifics of how the
donation will be used at our General Meeting at the end of Jan-uary. I invite all
members to attend to lean what is being planned and contribute to this
important discussion.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for
your support to the Temple last year. With your efforts, last year was a successful
year: we increased our membership, increased our fundraising income, increased
our donations, and decreased our operating costs. More people are
participating in our religious activities and enjoying our fundraisers, community
events and partnerships. These are important achievements that keep our
Temple solvent and moving in the right direction. Let’s continue to work together
to see more improvements in 2012.
I look forward to seeing you and as always, feel free to write or speak to me
about any concerns or issues that affect the Temple.

Gassho.
