President's Message
With April showers bring greener grass, and flowers that are as beautiful as
ever. This was evident throughout the Hondo during the Hanamatsuri Service.
Both the Hanamido and Hondo stage were adorned with many colorful flowers.
Many thanks for all of the floral and monetary donations, and a special thank
you to those who helped decorate and prepare the Hanamido. For those of you
who were not able to attend the Hanamatsuri service, we surprised Mukojima-
sensei with a gift for his 10 years of service within the Buddhist Churches of
America (BCA).
During May is perhaps the most important day of the year: Mother’s Day on
May 13! The following weekend on May 20 is the Hatsumairi (Infant Presentation)
service followed by the Gotan-E service. Our guest speaker for the day is San
Diego native, Rev. Carol Himaka of the Southern Alameda County Buddhist
Temple.
We, as the Board of Directors, are pleased to see our Sangha continue to
grow. The sight of children of many ages playing after Dharma School is satisfying
because they are our future leaders!! Not to forget the small in number but
dedicated, Jr. YBA partaking in temple activities and services. They are not only
becoming leaders of their own, but great roll models for the younger dharma
school children.
Gassho.
