The annual temple
    MOCHITSUKI
    December 13th
    We encourage everyone to participate
    in this annual ritual of making the sweet
    rice cakes on Sunday, December 13. The
    all-day event runs all day starting from 6
    a.m.
    Sales take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    that day. Orders not picked up by 4 p.
    m. are subject to resale.





    Mochitsuki , a true Japanese tradition, is
    a day of productivity and friendship.
    Everyone including the youngest Dharma
    School students to those who are young
    at hearts encouraged to participate in
    the mochitsuki. There will be definitely a
    task for everyone.

    Orders for Ko Mochi and Kasane (mochi
    for the altar) will be accepted from now until
    Sunday, Dec. 6. Donation for Ko Mochi is $4 per
    bag. One bag is approximately one pound.
    Donation for Kasane Mochi is $6. Please fill out the
    order form (see link above) and send it to the
    temple along with your payment.

    We welcome individual donations of $75 to be used
    to purchase the mochigome and other supplies.
    Please make your check payable to the Buddhist
    Temple of San Diego.

    We expect to cook 1,300 pounds of mochigome
    (special rice for making mochi) which will produce
    approximately 2,000 pounds of mochi.
